A New Parish for Woking & Surrey Heath

Bishop Richard Moth has announced that our current deanery of seven churches — including St Dunstan's and St Hugh of Lincoln — will become one new canonical parish: The Catholic Churches of Woking & Surrey Heath.

The seven churches are being grouped into two geographical hubs. Ours is the East Hub: St Dunstan's Woking, St Hugh of Lincoln Knaphill, and Our Lady Help of Christians, West Byfleet.

What stays the same: individual church names, our priests, where they live, and how the buildings are used — there's no immediate change to parish life as you know it.

What's changing: greater cooperation between the churches — shared admin support, pooled expertise, and more flexible ways of working — so our clergy can focus more on ministry as the number of priests continues to fall. Fr Paul Turner has been proposed as Moderator to lead the new parish alongside a dedicated Leadership Team.
